The Christmas Tree Adventure

Saturday we went to get our tree in the woods. We took Beckah with us because she is fun. :)

"Come now...shouldn't we be there by now...isn't this the same dirt road we came down before???"
A cozy cabin on the river: (I'd like to be in that cabin right now by the fire reading, wouldn't you?)
I found the perfect tree right away....

It was so small and alone and ever so friendly! But no one seemed to agree. :( So we left the poor tree with a promise to be somebody's Christmas tree one year when it's big and strong.

Then I got distracted taking pictures of mushrooms and things:

I should like to live under this one:

Then we got hungry so we had a picnic:

I love my Nalgene water bottle. :)
Then Beckah decided she would find the perfect tree:
And she did:
She and dad cut it down:

While I got distracted taking pictures again:

It was a lovely day. :)

Dan in Real Life

We watched Pirates of the Caribbean last night and I got a ton done on the Elizabeth Swann corset I'm making. Then mom and I weren't ready to go to bed so we pulled out Dan in Real Life.
I love this movie. :)

I think what I love most about it is the whole family and how they all interact and play games together all the time. That's how family vacations should be. :)
Anyway...I think this blog has gotten a bit boring as of lately. Man, I need to keep up better and talk about interesting things. It's hard though with all of my sewing posts being on The Art of Clothes. I never realized how much of my posting was sewing. :)
Well, I'll try and think of someting to make this blog more interesting.
In the meantime...go watch Dan in Real Life. I hope you'll like it.

Saturday

On Saturday I attended the piano recital of Aimee and Margaurite of Pretty Wit before heading home to have a scrap busting day with them. They played splendedly! (And Genevieve did a great job hosting!)
I had fun playing with the color settings on my camera again. :)
I just love Margaurute's flowy scarf:
After eating some lunch we walked around the Old Mill and I just had to take a picture of this cheeky tea kettle. I thought it looked very smug. ;)

I will put pictures of what I scrap busted on The Art of Clothes soon. I just haven't put it up yet.

Pretty Wit Giveaway!!!

I already posted about this on The Art of Clothes but I thought I'd post it here as well for those of you who only look at this blog so you don't miss out. :)
My friends at Pretty Wit are having a giveaway so do go check it out!

Old Mill

Yesterday I went to town with my sister and while she had a job interview I wandered around one of my favorite places...

I love this bridge and loved the reflection of the flags in the water here:

And I know I'm really quite strange but I loved the shadow on the wood:

Great place to shop. :)

The lovely river and Red Robin hiding behind the bushes. That's where we ate dinner. :)
I had a bit of fun playing with different color settings on my camera:

Then we picked my brother up from work and....*drum roll*...I got a cell phone! So exciting. :) I haven't had one since I was in England and I've missed it.

So anyway...that's my day in photos. SO exciting...right? ;)

Memories on Video

I've really been missing everybody in England lately. I was going through some of my pictures and ran accross a couple videos that made me smile. I thought I'd post them on here. They may not mean as much to you as they do to me, they may be rather boring. But it brings back so many memories for me, I just wanted to share. :)

This video is from my last week in Cornwall. We had a BBQ at the beach as a going away party for me, Ben, and Stella as we were all leaving the same weekend. This is a game of ultimate frisbee, it was fun to watch them. :) They got so into it.

This is poor Ben while we were camping at Soul Survivor after we all bribed him to eat a red hot chili pepper. K, for the record...I had NO idea they were that hot!

More on Crusoe

I don't think I ever said what I thought of the new TV series Crusoe which airs on Friday evenings.
I'm really enjoying it! It's entertaining and the guys costumes and set design are amazing.

Also...Sean Bean is in some of them! I can't remember who he played or if he was only in the first episode. I've actually only watched a couple of them. But anyway...
As amazing as some of the costumes are...I must confess I'm not sure what I think of the girl's costumes. They don't seem quite right or authentic. (maybe I'm wrong) But as they are flashbacks maybe Robin isn't remembering correctly! ;) Yeah...that's probably it! They are rather light and flowy though so maybe the designer is trying to create a dreamy effect more than historical accuracy. That would make sense and it does create an atmosphere.

They are pretty though....I wouldn't mind making one like this...
Anyway...it's a fun show and I'm not going to be too picky about the accuracy of it all. It is beautifully filmed and it's fun to watch. And...I am a bit obsessed with Robin's jackets and shirts. I may have to start a new line of clothes...haha. I've always wanted to make men's costumes. Maybe one day when I'm a costume designer for reals. ;)

Rain...

Rain makes me feel so cozy. We haven't had much lately but we've been getting little bits. It always seems to happen while I'm asleep or distracted watching a film or something...but I love those moments when I'm able to catch it raining and I can sit by a window and watch it. There's something so captivating about those little drops of water falling from the sky, leaving the world refreshed and glimmering with wetness. I love the sound of it falling against whatever. (The sound of cobblestone is probably my favorite sound) When I was in England I would sit by the window with one of my Lemony Snicket books and a cup of Twining's peppermint tea. Nothing quite so delicious.
Even if your going out into the rain...I think it's so much fun to wear wellies and get to use an umbrella and rain coat. I've always felt like I'm a part of an adventure when I've been caught in the rain.
So, that's my gushing post about my love of rain.
