Going Through Some Sewing Stuff

We have a box of old wooden spools of thread passed down from my grandma and from people who have given us boxes of unwanted sewing stuff over the years. I just think they're so cool. :)
So many wonderful colors:
I also have some really beautiful shell buttons which we inherited from my great great grandmother. I keep them in this little jelly jar.
Then there's this really cool needle case that was also my great great grandmother's.

And who doesn't love beeswax? Especially when it says what it is so one doesn't forget. ;)
Anyway...there's just a few of my favorite sewing things. :) Just thought you'd like to see them.

Yesterday...

I finished this little jumper yesterday and put it in my etsy shop.

It even has little acorn buttons. :)
I got to see Cheri! :D
And I splurged on a magazine and a new sketchbook. :)

Randomness

Was having a bit of fun with the camera this morning and took some pictures of my favorite things laying around.

My ring: (I bought it in London...isn't it cool?)

Some British coinage, a shell from Ann and my "friendship rock" from Luke:
My little owl from Daisy (I still need to name him) and my honey jar from Jenny:
My favorite book I own: It looks like it's been through an adventure. :) I haven't ever read it yet...but when I do I know it will be my favorite book. Just because it's got to be cool. The cover is cool...the name is cool...and it's about a Knight...I think.
I also added music to my blog...we'll see how I feel about it after awhile, if I keep it or not. But I added some fun songs that have memories behind them. Some of them are a little cheezy, but they make me smile. :)
Anyway...that's it for now..I need to go do something more productive for awhile.

Feeling Homesick...

As hard as I've been fighting it...I'm homesick for Cornwall. So to furthur torture myself, I thought I'd post some pictures for you all to see just a peek of why.

This was one of my favorite views. Every time I walked past this driveway I just had to stop and stare. The lane that leads to home:

Two of the coolest people ever, Matt & Westy: (This picture was taken at about 7:20am when they drove me to the train station so they're a bit sleepy eyed)

Another favorite view:
Team work:

The sea: :)

Ultimate Frisbee:

Gracie my darling:
Adventures:
Melissa:

Me and Sam in London:

Big Ben: (I finally got to see it after 17 years of dreaming of it)
I love Sam:
Belinda is just cool: :)
It's so hard to cordinate everyone for pictures...haha
I loved walking everywhere....

I miss all these amazing people and places so much. But I know one day I'll go back. Hopefully soon! :)

Handmade Notebooks

I made these notebooks for my etsy shop today. They're really fun and not too hard.
Just fold a bunch of paper in half then stitch the paper together on the sewing machine:

Then glue the cover on and decorate. :) Check them out, here.

Black and White Birds

My latest design obsession is bird silhouettes. Today I had a vision of something to do with some of my fabric stash...pictures of the finished project coming soon. :)

Fabric Stash

This picture is only a small taste of my stash.

Tonight I started organizing my fabric and have come to a conclusion...I have way too much. No kidding. I probably don't have any more than most seamstresses...in fact, probably less. But I have enough to feel overwhelmed by not being able to make something out of all of it. So, new rule: I can't buy any more fabric until I use up most of what I have. Unless of course I need something to go with something I have in order to finish a project. But yeah...no more stashing. I rather like the idea of catching up on all my sewing. All this unfinished bussiness is not for me.

I like clean, orderly, and used well. :) That's my new fabric motto. ;)

1000 Artist Journal Pages

My friend randomly picked up this book at Barnes and Noble the other day and I couldn't stop looking through it. So inspiring and just...amazing. :)

Check it out if you get the chance!

Foam

I found this magazine buried in the back of the rack at Barnes and Noble and it just may be my new favorite. A magazine for lovers of Fashion, Ocean, Art, and Music. I love it. :)

Two is Better than One

Yesterday my friend Heidi came to visit and we had an awesome afternoon of shopping and just chillin' in the park catching up.
FYI-American Eagle is giving away movie tickets if you try on a pair of jeans. Not bad...even though I do find the task of trying jeans on exhausting...one thing I hate the most...for a free movie ticket, why not!? And if you buy the jeans...you get another free movie ticket.
Heidi and I couldn't find anything to go see at the moment so we rented "Some Like it Hot" instead, after some Red Robin (my first visit since I've been home...AMAZING) and grabbing a couple magazines, then we headed home and hung out in the hot tub. Good times.
It's good to be home and see old friends.
