Christmas gifts so far...

Yesterday our sewing group had a gift exchange. I had drawn Daisy's name so I made her this basket/bag out of some stiff yarn:
And this little owly cuff:

I was trying to be Christmasy with the green and the red eyes. I hope the owls don't look too evil. ;)
Then last night I went to Wal-Mart with Becks and we wandered around looking for something we "needed". I got this:
I know, it's BLACK. heehee It was only 97 cents though and I always wanted to wear black nail polish. Besides, it's not so emo anymore...it's becoming quite classy. (at least I think it can be) So I will have fun with it. :) I think it would be fun to use in a black and white photo shoot.
Now I'm off to get some laundry done and finish up the rest of my Christmas gifts....

Unnecessaries

I tell you the Goodwill is a bad place for me to go. Stop in to check for one thing and you come out with an armload of stuff your determined you need. A file box (which I actually do need), a drawer box, a hardcover copy of Eclipse, a paperback copy of Donald Miller's 'Searching for God knows What' and a book that looked cool called 'A Writer's Reader'.
Did I need all this? Who knows. But at least I made it out of there spending about what I would have spent if I bought the file box brand new. So I guess I'm good. I need to stay away from that place though. It sucks me in.

hair cut and a bad day

Alright...FINALLY here is a pic of my hair cut which I had done weeks ago.

This was my hair before....NASTY. :P
After:
Yay. I love it. <3
Yesterday I had a really bad day. One of those days where you think your in a different year than you are, you hide your cell phone so well you can't find it...and spend every hour at work on the phone trying to fix problems on computers you know nothing about.

Let's just say...I was happy to get home. But I did stop by the Goodwill on the way home and picked up these lovelies:
I also got some really neat glass jars and an old vintage thread sorter to furthur help my Sewing Room organization. Which...believe it or not...IS coming along! I'm almost ready to show pictures. I'm debating eather or not to show the before pictures. I'm not sure I'm that vulnerable. It was pretty unbelievably bad.
When I finally made it home yesterday, I found two brand new TOAST catologues waiting for me to pour thorugh.
I spent the rest of the evening swooning over these, which are truly works of art. My goodness I want a better camera. Oh, and maybe be able to fly to england and do some photo shoots?
Then tucked into bed and read some beatiful poetry by John Keats. I wanted to be able to say I've read his work before going to see the movie, Bright Star, which is about him. I'm going to see it today. I'm so excited! He is amazing. I can't believe I hadn't read his work before now. New favorite. :)

Writing

There's something about a leather bound book with blank pages in it that makes me feel like a real writer. I've always loved writing stories but I've never considered myself a true writer. But I was thinking the other day, one doesn't have to be a "good" writer to be a writer, right? ;) So I guess I can add that to my list of many hobbies.

I found this amazing journal on Etsy from lapaperie:
I'd so love to fill that with my silly writing.
I ran across these pages on the internet:

Now if I could make the inside of my notebooks look like that...I wouldn't care what I wrote. ;)
I just started a new story last night after a two year neglect from my writing. It feels so good to be back in my imagination for a while. :)

Who?

Hello all my friends...I have to tell you about some new friends, Professor Flimmeny Woo and Morgandy the Robin. Go visit them at Pretty Wit. I could just eat them up!
And don't forget Alec the Awesome. He's just so cool. :)
Go to the Shop and read their descriptions. They've got personalities you wouldn't believe. I'm just in love with them. :)

It's Good to be a Girl

I know it's just shampoo, a toothbrush, facial toner, and shower gel, but it's new and it feels good to bring something new home, even if it's just something I needed.
And I did splurge on a In Style magazine. I had to....Kate was on the cover! ;) (I deserved it for cutting back and buying cheaper, unhealthy bath stuff. Burt's Bees just isn't in my budget these days)
Anyway...I haven't been shopping since I was in London. I forgot how much I don't really like trying clothes on and how much I love it when they actually look cute.
I didn't do any sewing like I said I was going to. *shame* But I'll have all day tomorrow to sew. I promise I will. I really need to get serious about my Etsy shop. For real.

Tina the Turtle

Yesterday mom had her Christmas tea and we did a little sale in the corner of the room so I emptied my shop and put my things there for the afternoon.
The only thing that I sold was my dear little turtle friend...
I originaly had though he was a boy but the little girl who bought him declared "It's a girl and her name is Tina."
So there you have it. :) Tina the turle has found a home at last.

I think I need to make more of these little guys. Or...*ehem* gals. ;)

Fabric and Buttons :)

Yes, I probably spent more money than I should have at JoAnn's Columbus Day Sale. BUT, it all has a purpose and it's all to sell. So, I wont feel guilty. :)

I found some really wonderful buttons:

And I got a stack o fabric (don't even bring up the stack of fabric I already have!). The top four are knit fabric and then a fun Fall patchwork plaid and some denim.I think I'll keep it a secret what I'm making from them all until they are finished so it will be a suprise. I'm going to start sewing today though...as soon as my fabric is done being washed.

Yesterday...

I finished this little jumper yesterday and put it in my etsy shop.

It even has little acorn buttons. :)
I got to see Cheri! :D
And I splurged on a magazine and a new sketchbook. :)

A Bit More Splurging...

I stopped by JoAnn's yesterday to check out their Red Tag Sale and found some wonderful deals. :D I did make a rule for myself that I had to know exacly what I was using the fabric for and buy only enough for that. I also had to keep it under control...not get more fabric than I will be able to use up quickly.

And of course with all this new fabric I had to buy a few new spools of thread. :)

My Splurge...

Today I had to stop at JoAnn's to pick up some notions and I just thought I'd check and see if they still had this fabric I have been wanting for a long time. They did! And the best of it is...it was on sale. :D So, I caved and bought it.

Isn't it darling?

I got almost seven yards of it so there's plenty to make something for myself and maybe something to sell in my etsy shop. :)

I'm not sure what I'll make...maybe aprons? :)

Shopping in Truro

Ian took some of us girls shoping in Truro while the boys and the rest of the girls stayed at the barn and watched rugby. (which I am now a converted fan of)

Thought this was interesting: T. K. Max?
Lesa, our new friend Amy, and Ian buying sweets. :)
Truro Cathedral:
"Ello mum!"
Truro is such a lovely town. :)
