Lovely Goodbye's

I leave tomorrow to head up and say goodbye to my sister Aimee and then board a plane to London on Monday. Can't believe how fast time is flying!
I was able, in the caos of all my packing, to sneak away and have some fun girl time with my friends...

Red Robin excursion: (just love being spontaneous!)

Just had to try these on....they were just too ugly not to be tried on. ;)

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

The first time watching this film I was a bit disappointed in it as it is my favorite book in the Chronicles of Narnia series and they changed it so much. But after thinking about it a bit and watching it one more time, I’ve decided I truly do like it a whole lot and I’m even happy for a few changes, and here is why.
Perhaps we could be offended that C. S. Lewis’ genius work was tampered with and ought to have been left as it was…but he himself never stuck to this rule. In his letters to children he replies to a child who asked him to write more stories about Narnia and asks about some of the wars mentioned in the books, stories that are never told, only mentioned. His response was that they ought to write their own story about Narnia. I think because of the allegory in the books, C. S. Lewis didn’t claim it as having to be exactly so, I think he wanted children to make their own Narnia…just as we as Christians have our own unique relationship and journey with God. No two adventures are the same.
This being said, I think some of the new parts added to the story and also made it somewhat of a surprise to audiences who have read the books numerous times.
The one plot twist I didn’t care for was the change in Peter’s character. He’s one of my favorite characters in the book because he truly is selfless and so noble and good. (of course he does make mistakes occasionally) But I was disappointed with how self righteous they made him in this. However, sitting back and taking it as a new story in Narnia…it was a great lesson to learn in humility and leadership.
So, yes, despite many plot twist and even character changes…I really loved this film. It still had that good strong message of standing strong for what is right, even when voices of doubt tempt us to believe in something as little as ourselves alone instead of the One who’s greater than any other.
For Narnia! And for Aslan!

England Fundraiser Tea

Mom put on a lovely vintage inspired tea to help me raise support for my upcoming trip to England.

Jenny played some beautiful hymns on the piano.

We all wore vintage dresses or aprons. :)

Anna taking people's money....haha

Prince Caspian Midnight Showing

We're all a little sleepy today since we were at the theater into the wee hours of the morning to catch the first glimpse of the new Narnia movie.
For the first time, I chose not to dress up...which made me a little sad seeing everyone else dressed up...but I was definately comfortable!

Here's our lovely crew...left to right: King Peter the Magnificent, Queen Prunaprismia, (sorry I can't rememeber their name) a centaur (how cool is that!?), Aslan, Lucy, Susan, lovely Narnian lady, Prince Caspian.

The lovely centaur:

King Peter standing in the train station...or is it fading into Narnia?

Queen Prunaprismia wants to be rid of Caspian!
King Peter and I have something in common: good taste in footwear! :)
So, I dressed as a costume designer...how about that? And Becks is my assistant. ;)

Taking a rest...
They had a cosume contest and the three finalists were our own centaur, King Peter and Prince Caspian! Prince Caspian won first...he got a lot of cool prizes. King Peter was second.

It was a lot of fun...but I'm rather tired today.
As for the movie...I will probably write a better review of it later...it being my favorite of all the Narnia books...I was pretty critical and a bit sad they changed it so much! They took a lot of my favorite parts out. However, it was really well done and I did like it. :)

Keeping Busy...

The days seem to be rushing by! I can't believe I will be in England in 3 weeks!

Yesterday after work I had a lovely time hangin out with some old friends. We walked down to the market and bought root beer to make floats. It was so warm and wonderful out! I'm going to miss Summer in my home town.

Today mom and I have been working on stuff for our fund raiser tea this weekend. Mom's making all sorts of things to sell. :) I'm going to help her set up an Etsy shop after the tea for anything left over.

It's funny how you don't realize how much you really love something until you know you aren't going to have it pretty soon. Lately I've been loving my home town more, our house more, everything American more...it's funny how that only seems to happen just before going some place really different.

The other night we watched 'Meet Me in St. Louis', my favorite musical ever! It made me think back to the old days when everyone was here and life seemed so much more simple. Now everyone is growing up and moving on with life, and although I don't want to go back to those days totally...there are moments I miss them and wish we could just be "the girls" for a day.

But...change is good. :) I'm learning this and also loving it. I'm so excited to see where God leads all of our lives.
We'll keep in touch...and one day we'll look back and smile; remembering those who, in the very beginning, helped us get to where we're at today.

London in 26 days!

Well, I bought my plane ticket today so I'm going to the UK for 6 months on June 2!
I'm going to spend one night in London with a friend who lives there and then head down to Cornwall.

I'm so excited! I better get busy! Lots to do before then!

A Visit From Heidi

My good friend, who I've known since I was 11 and she was 7, came to visit me this week for a couple days! It was so much fun. :)
We had lots of fun girly time doing our nails and make up...
Silly times....

We also rented Rear Window which freaked me out! haha Scary movie! But it was fun. And I mean, how can you go wrong with Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly?

We had lots of good times eating ice cream, enjoying the hot tub and hiking Pilot Butte.

It was wonderful. :)
